Head Coach Ray Smith
Coach Ray Smith was raised in the Boston metro, and moved to Bowie in 2010. Coach Smith started playing sports at the early age of 6 (baseball, football, basketball, track and field, and martial arts). During high school, he was 4 year varsity player, All-State Football and Track & Field athlete. At EPHS in 1998, he was a All-New England Champion in Track and Field (Long Jump) and All New England in Football (DB), and inducted to the EPHS Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from Wheaton College in 2002, and was a 3x NCAA All-American in Track and Field, and a 2004 Olympic Trials T&F Qualifier, in the Long Jump.
He has coached at all ages, from youth (AAU/Junior Olympics), high school, collegiate (Rhode Island College), and post collegiate, since 2002 in New England/Bowie. He has coached multiple sports with BBGC and other youth organizations in various sports, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Track and Field, and Lacrosse. Currently, he is working on his black belt in Tang So Do outside of coaching. He holds a BA/MPA and works for the federal government at the Dept. of Homeland Security. He lives in Bowie with his wife (also a BBGC coach, and former Michigan State Spartan All-American) and three kids.
