Head Coach
Coach Duane Washington is a lifelong resident of Prince George’s County. In his younger days, Duane played baseball for Camp Springs Boys & Girls Club and also played at Crossland High School where he was a three-sport star in football, baseball, and track. In baseball, he pitched, played center field, and was a speedster on the bases. Duane was offered several athletic scholarships to play football. He played 2 years of college football (1995 – 1997) at Frostburg State University where he started as a true freshman at cornerback and punt return. He graduated with a B.S. and M.B.A from Frostburg State University.
After college, Duane worked as a sports agent with Sports Management Group Worldwide in Fairfax, Virginia during the early 2000s, providing marketing and promotional needs for several retired MLB players including Brady Anderson (Orioles), Ryan Church (National), Gio Gonzalez (Nationals), and Ryan Howard (Phillies). His first cousin, Jason Baker, played in Milwaukee Brewers Farm System from 2002 – 2004.
Duane has been a Bowie Baseball coach since 2012. He has been a travel baseball head coach since 2017. Duane takes a special interest in developing baseball IQ and mental preparedness and emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Because of his relationships over the years, Duane works closely with former MLB, Minor Leaguers, and Collegiate players to provide assistance to his coaching staff with practice and developmental training. His passion is boundless and represents the highest standards within the Bowie Baseball Program.
